John Meek and Son James - Grand Teton

John Martin Meek – View From the Top

John and his youngest son, James, have just used the Direct Exum Ridge, a technical climb route, to reach the summit of the Grand Teton (13,700 feet) in the Grand Teton National Park, WY. James, then a student at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, is now an investigative producer for ABC News.

The year before this climb, John and his three children—Camilla, David and James—were climbing the Grand Teton together when one climber, the late Chuck Pratt, became ill just below the summit and they were forced to go back down.
