John Martin Meek – View From the Top

John and his youngest son, James, have just used the Direct Exum Ridge, a technical climb route, to reach the summit of the Grand Teton (13,700 feet) in the Grand Teton National Park, WY. James, then a student at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, recently left the New York Daily News as national security/terrorism correspondent to become senior investigator for the U.S. House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee.

The year before this climb, John and his three children—Camilla, David and James—were climbing the Grand Teton together when one climber became ill just below the summit and they were forced to go back down. Camilla is Director of Marketing Communications for Guilford College, NC, and David is a web designer for North Carolina State.
